Everybody has heard of the Ab Circle right? Well for those of you who may have been living under a rock for that last year, it is an exercise machine used to "flatten your abs". This machine can be seen on infomercials on any given channel. Now although the Ab Circle is known for flattening the abs, it can also double as a thigh and butt machine. I imagine how funny one must look while using this machine since one's butt is basically sticking out and up in the air, but it has become a new obsession. Not my obsession though. It is the obsession of my 4 yr old Ky!
Ky became aware of the Ab circle through said infomercial. See, I dvr Spiderman, Spectacular Spider Man, Power Rangers and Batman for Ky since those shows mostly air at night after bedtime. I allow Ky to watch these shows while I am cleaning up, doing laundry, or taking a shower. Ky, being the perceptive child that he is, seen the Ab Circle infomercial and has yet to forget about it. The first time Ky talked about the Ab Circle, I didn't think too much about it. One day while watching the infomercial he calmly says, "mom, that is disgusting"! Not sure exactlly what he was talking about I said "Okay" and went back to the dishes.
The second time he talked about it though, he left me with a memory that I will forever remember. While making his lunch before heading off to afternoon preschool he says, "Mom, if you ever get fatter and fatter and even more fatter, you can use the Ab Circle to flatten your abs". I absolutely lost it. Did my 4yr old just say flatten your abs? Where's the video camera at a time like that? Figuring he was just quoting the commerical, I proceeded to tell all my friends and family about his funny statement and assumed that would be the end of it.
It was only a few short wks later however, while doing much needed shopping for the kids some new summer clothes, Ky brought up the Ab Circle again. This time though, he embarrassed me to the point of wishing there was a hole that I could jump into. I guarantee my face was as red as the flip flops I was trying on him. I thought we had passed the age where kids say things just a little too loudly about stragers but he proved me wrong on this day.........You see, just as a rather large size woman was passing by, Ky turns around. Without hesitation he points to the woman, and says very LOUDLY, "That woman needs to use the Ab circle". Unsure if the woman actually heard, I quickly picked up the flip flops and headed for the register. There was no way I was sticking around to find out.
Which leads us into today. The moment I realize Ky really IS obsessed with the Ab Circle. He was sitting on the couch eating some dry cereal and talking to me while I read my morning Facebook updates. We talked about Spider Man, dad coming home, who we were gonna play with today, where we were gonna go etc, etc. All of a sudden Ky jumps up off the couch and starts putting his cereal away. He looks to me and says, "I am all finished with my cereal cause I don't want my tummy to get fatter. I have not been going to the gym and I don't have an Ab Circle..............Holy Batman. This kid is out of control!
LOL!! That is priceless!!! Next thing you know, he'll be asking for one for his birthday!
ReplyDeleteSeriously....why in the world do they always put on the cool cartoons after bed time? They obviously don't talk to moms when they are programing the hours they air.
