Silent Drill Platoon!

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of getting to watch the Silent Drill Platoon perform.  They came here to my town to celebrate our 275th anniversary.  Although there were other activities for the kids to do, my reason for going was solely to watch these guys perform.  If you have not ever had the chance to see these incredible Marines perform, then check out their schedule and see if they will be in a town near you.  You will want to go.

When I met my husband almost 9 yrs ago, he was stationed up at 8th and I doing this same exact thing.  I had never heard of them until I met my love.  Although that time in our life has come and gone, I still get chills everytime I watch them perform.  We hope to someday find ourselves stationed at 8th and I again.  Until then, I will settle for watching them every chance I can.

As I stood there with the video camera trying to catch every detail, I felt as if I closed my eyes just right, I could see my love out there doing that again.  Unfortunately my love was unable to be there to watch so I promised I would do my best to get as much video as I could.  I managed to record the entire thing but I am sure you will be able to see how unsteady I was.

I was trying to explain to Jade that when she was a baby, this is what daddy used to do.  I don't think she believed me.  Either that, or she didn't really understand why he used to do it, but does not do it anymore because after the performance she says, "Mom is that seriously what daddy used to do?"  Ky, of course,  did not understand why daddy didn't do that when he was a baby.  Man that was hard to explain.

After their performance things went dark and got to watch an incredible fireworks show.  I don't have any pics from that because I actually didn't take these pics (remember, I had the video camera).  I want to thank my bestie for the pics that she took so that I have a few to show my love.  We had a great time with great friends.  Sometime, and I mean sometimes, I actually like this town!!

  2. Jess, I would love to but since I recorded on an old fashion dinosaur camera, I don't know how. Maybe my love will know when he gets home since it is his camera!
