Sorry I have gotten behind on my blogging. I have been incredibly busy! Not doing anything that would really excite you guys, more like the boring housewife stuff that must done. Well, I guess some of it was not REALLY a necessity, but in my head it was. If any of you are like me, then you will understand what I am saying when I want to TRY to do everything on my own. That does not pertain to the helping of the children, washing of the clothes, taking out the trash, or cleaning of the house. I talking about things that usually fall into the "mens job" category. I want to be able to prove to my love that I indeed can do it all! Of course, he quickly reminds me that I actually cannot do everything, because I can't even open a pickle jar without his help. In my defense though, those lids are HUGE!
Anyhow, I decided that while my love was away, I was gonna take on the entire task of completing the flower garden. Of course, the planting of the flowers is always MY job, but I did it all. Okay, I will say that before he left we did go and buy some of the edging bricks and layed them out, but I had to buy the last 16 and put them in place. Boy, those little boogers where heavy. Then I had to pull out all the weeds that had sprouted, all the ugly green bush thingys that I have no idea what they were (you know, the ones that are planted by the contractors so they can say they "landscaped"), and of course remove all existing mulch that didn't get washed away last summer by the rain. After doing all of this. I fill in all the holes and try to spread the sand out as level as I could get it. I had to dig a trench to put a gutter extender in and then bury it, so that it could come out on the other side of my edging bricks to keep the eroding away of the mulch from happening again. Finally, I was ready to plant.
After many trips to the garden center, I decided that I really didn't care what kind of flowers I put in my garden as long as they produced something pretty and colorful. Might I add, I do not have a keen eye on decorating or a green thumb for planting, but I must say, I think I did a pretty good job. If definately couldn't look any worse than it did before. I managed to finish just a mere day before my love came home and it felt great to be able to say, "look what I did"! It was also a good feeling knowing that this was one less thing he would have to do before leaving on this darn deployment that is fastly arriving. I also know that I do not want to look at another shovel, rake, or pair of garden gloves for a long time.
On another note, my love is finally home from Mojave Viper. I picked him up at 7:00 on tuesday night. That would be the other reason I have been MIA. With him being gone for 6 wks and deployment right around the corner, I am spending lots of time loving on him. Of course, by next week, I will be ready to leave his side some and get some much needed "ME" time. Although, his VERY LOUD snoring on the couch right now is likely to make me leave the room in like a sec. Either that or that smell that I think may very well be coming from the trash can. It smells very pootish! In the meantime, it is like heaven to have him home again.
Oh, and a early Happy Mothers Day to me. Well that and birthday, anniversary, Christmas etc. I have officially purchased that much needed, very much wanted Nikon D5000. Although it is not here yet, it has shipped. I will definately be much more picture friendly once I get it. You may even get to see my lovely garden. I finally get to retire my dinosaur camera that takes 500 seconds to actually snap a picture ( that dinosaur song by Kesha just popped in my head). Anyhow, I am off to continue with my wifely and motherly duties, but not before I find the source of that very awful totally pootish smell!
