Okay, so this really just got my blood boiling today. Let me start by saying that I have always been very cautious of the language that I use around my kids. I understand that I cannot shelter my kids forever and as they get older cursing is gonna be heard. I just never expected Ky to learn this word so young. My children know what most bad words are. They know they are not supposed to use them although Ky has a tenency to say, "mom, so-and-so just said (insert bad word here)." One word that I have always felt strongly about making sure they don't hear, is the F-word. I would never want to be told my kids said ANY bad word, but I would just die if I heard they used the F-word. At ages 7 and 4, that word should NOT even be known.
Anyhow, while chillin here at the house like any other typical morning, Ky was rambling on and on about absolutely nothing. He got up from the couch and headed to the fridge to get a juice box. After bringing me the pack to help him open them, he headed back to the fridge to put them away. Instead though, he got sidetracked like most 4 yr olds do and placed them on the counter to look at the Chuck-E-Cheese coupons that come inside the package. That is when it happened. He turns to me and says, " What the fok"! Okay, I am sure you just gasped cause I totally did when he said that, but he did. Although he totally pronounced it wrong, I clearly knew what he meant. In complete and utter shock I pick up my jaw and proceed to drill Ky. It went something like this.
Me: What did you just say?
Ky: I said, "what the fok"
Me: Why did you say that Ky?
Ky: Because you have Chuck-E-Cheese Coupons
Me: Okay, but that is a very bad word Ky! Mommy is very angry!
Ky: "I'm sorry mom, why is it a bad word"
Me: It is just a very bad word. We do not say that. Where did you hear that?
Ky: "from the big kids at the green park "(that would be park directly outside my back gate)
Me: Ky, that is a very bad word. We do not say that word EVER! Don't let mommy hear you say it again. If the big kids are at the park saying that word, you need to come home. Do you understand?
Ky: "Yes ma'am"!
Holy batman, how am I gonna explain that one to my love when he gets home. I don't think "hey hun, I have really missed you the past 6wks and by the way, your son learned the F-word while you were gone, is gonna fly."
I yai yai...........the joys of parenthood!! Although I was boiling mad earlier, I guess I really can't do too much about it. I just hope Ky NEVER uses that word again anytime in the near future.
maybe he will use pootish instead <3
ReplyDeleteUmmmm.....yah...you gotta love it when our kids that we try to shelter as long as we can...comes home saying "words" that they hear from other kids. Your hubby will probably laugh and be proud of him.
